Day Fifteen - "Liberty and Clinton"

On my way to the lovely Schenectady Post Office today (to mail my old digital camera to the lucky eBayer who purchased it last night), I paused on the corner of Liberty and Clinton to take a skyward picture. Come on, who doesn't love skyward photos?!

Day Fourteen - "Time for Replacing"

Taken in the laundry room while talking to Emily on the phone. They can't all be winners.

Day Thirteen - "Bottom of the Barrel"

Looking into the barrel of bottle caps in the bar.

Day Twelve - "A Cold Stroll"

Following the Union/Cornell hockey game on Saturday night, Dan decided to head over to Phi Delt to hang out with Ryan and Mike. It was one of the coldest night's that I can remember.

Day Eleven - "Take It With A..."

Justin and I went to Crossgates Mall tonight so that I could gawk at the new MacBook Pro laptops and I decided to take a picture of my filthy menu at Wendy's after a filthy and salty meal. I also tried to take a candid shot of an old man at a table diagonally from us, but he spotted me so I gave up. Too bad, it would have been a great shot.

Day Ten - "Leftover

A leftover program from Founder's Day at Union College.

Day Nine - "Just A Solitary Screw"

I was getting pretty bored during Dynamics of Systems lab today so I started taking pictures of stuff that was lying around my workstation. Don't worry, I was very discreet about it. That is one of the benefits of having a camera that is easy to hide in the palm of my hand.

Day Eight - "Peeling Paint"

Peeling paint and an emergency phone on the corner of the Arts Building at Union.

Day Seven - "By the Monitor's Glow"

I spend so much of every day sitting in front of my computer and I thought that a shot lit completely by the glow of my monitor might be a good one for today. Plus, I was able to hide my initials in there too.

Day Six - "Tapestry"

A tapestry in Dave's dormroom at Skidmore.

Day Five - "A Hard Earned Sunset"

After a long day snowboarding at The Balsams in temperatures so far below that they forgot what zero even felt like, I was amazed at how warm the sun looked in this shot. Believe, it was cold!

Day Four - "A Long Way From Checkmate"

Sorry that it took me so long to post these three photos, but I was gone all weekend on a trip up to my friend's house in New Hampshire with Emily. We left on Friday and went snowboarding/skiing at The Balsams, braving the twenty below temperatures. It was a nice weekend and it provided a nice opportunity to take some pictures outside of lovely Schenectady.

Day Three - "Interfering Shadows"

This photo was taken in the courtyard of the Northwest Science and Engineering building on campus. There are some interesting sculptures out there and all of their shadows seem to interfere with each other.

Day Two - "In Parallel"

Here is the photo for day number two. I had a lab this afternoon for Dynamics of Systems and I thought that these circuit elements looked pretty neat set into the breadboard. I have been up working on a homework assignment for that class for the last few hours and it is awfully late now, so it is off to bed for me. See you tomorrow.

Day One - "1026"

Well, here it is. The moment you all have been waiting for. And by "all", I mean the less than five people who are probably keeping tabs on my progress. But I then again, this is the first of 365 photos, so I am sure popularity will swell in the coming months. The quality didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I am still getting used to the new camera and I haven't gotten a chance to experiment with the JPEG compression too much yet. I promise the next ones will look cleaner.

i guess i was wrong...

Well, I was planning on posting a few of my favorite pictures that I have taken over the last few years in order to kickstart this photo blog. However, after being reprimanded by Danny, I have decided that I will stay true to the 2006-365 ideal and just include photos that were taken that day. Therefore, if you want to take a peak at some of my previously shot pictures, mostly from my exploits in Europe, hop on over to my other website.

Now, I wouldn't post an entry with only bad news. That wouldn't be very nice of me. The good news is that I have tracked my new camera's progress on its trip all the way from Hawaii to good old Schenectady and it should be arriving at the mailroom early tomorrow morning. Woohoo! That means that I will have to familiarize myself with it quickly and post a good one tomorrow night. Check back and let me know what you think. Goodnight all!

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day!

In the beginning...

First and foremost, welcome!

The plan is for me to take several photographs everyday with my brand new Canon Powershot SD450 and pick my favorite to post here. Feel free to comment if you would like, or just look on in silence. I don't mind either way.

Now, I have to fess up and say that this was not my idea what-so-ever. I blatantly stole the idea from my friend Danny Taft, who started doing this as his New Year's Resolution as a way to become a better photographer and I have to say that it has inspired me to attempt the same. I really enjoyed taking photos in high school and even considered minoring in Photography at college. That is before I decided to come to Union, which has virtually no art program and an engineering department that consumes my life.

Now, that being said, I just ordered a new camera this afternoon and it should be here toward the middle of next week and I will start posting pictures that day. However, since I am more than a month behind on this whole thing, I will probably sort through my favorite shots from the last year or two and post a few to kick this whole thing off.

Come back soon and often, tell your friends (if you want), and most of all, enjoy!
